Paying the Piper Hamelin Child Book 2 eBook DJ Bennett

Good continuation of Michael's troubles of which kicking the heroine is what he thinks is biggest problem..until he meets up with Lenny. .. and Amanda...and Caro ..and Mal...and Greg,Steve and Chris.... ..
seriously Michael should have stayed home especially on his birthday. He may see that women are the catalyst to his life being so messed up but it looks like wrong decision making at a weak point is more the culprit. A letter is the first step over the cliff this time.
As his recent past turmoil is still smacking him around ,he meets Amanda which puts a spotlight on him he really didn't need.He sees her as the reason things go quickly wrong but really the true reason is the stuff of his nightmare beginning with Eddie is far from over. There is still 'people' wanting to shut him up.
Amanda has messed her life up with a bad decision and as she scrambles to figure out what to do,she meets Michael who wants to help her which puts them entangled together as Michael's story continues.
Lenny comes off as a slick gangster type with a 'loyalty' of a sort to those in the business. He is oddly likable and he takes on being Michael's co-savior with Amanda. And yup, I just bought book 3.

Paying the Piper Hamelin Child Book 2 eBook DJ Bennett Reviews

Sequel to the amazing Five Star Hamelins's Child, this book continues to excite and thrill as we see how the main character moves on and deals with the events we saw him endure in the first book, as well as a whole new set of circumstances he becomes caught up in. Sequels sometimes repeat the themes or plots from the original book. Not a case with Paying The Piper. The book can easily stand alone, but I would definitely recommend reading Hamelin's Child first. DJ Bennett has a real gift for writing. I thoroughly enjoyed Paying The Piper. I will now buy any book written by Bennett knowing that any novel with her name on it will be a high quality read!
Paying The Piper is every bit as riveting as Hamelin's Child. Michael is slowly dealing with his demons when he meets Amanda, a young mum who's husband has left her and taken their baby.

Michael tries to help Amanda but the pair become unwittingly embroiled in his past.

Shady characters emerge from the woodwork and a trip to Wilmslow leaves Amanda alone and Michael at the mercy of his captors with a price on his head to the highest bidder.

There are heart-stopping moments where Michael tries to escape and I sat up last night until I finished this but I'm giving no more away. You have to buy it and read it for yourself. Gripping and well-written and I loved the local-to-me locations this book is set in.
Michael may have been drug free for a few months, but that doesn't mean he has his life put back together. The guilt, the shame, and the notoriety dog his heels like a shadow. The not-so-distant past reaches out and touches him, leaving his thoughts and emotions reeling. He meets posh and naïve Amanda by chance at a cash machine, and an offhand attempt at being the good guy gets them both caught up in a swirl of consequences in a world of high-stakes traffic in drugs, people, and death.

Michael Redford has not only done a lot of growing up, he's also grown stronger in the few months since the first book of the series, Hamelin's Child. The tightly woven plot will keep you reading, and the characters will keep you guessing as the line between the good guys and the bad guys blurs.
Great Book!!
I found 'Hamelin's Child' totally gripping, and this is the same - riveting. A great story and great story-telling. I do feel as if Michael's story is not yet finished. If there is a third, then I will buy all three in paperback, to keep and re-read when I choose. Michael is unforgettable.
6 months after being rescued from a sex-trafficking ring, Michael still can hardly bear the loss of his friend Lee, and has yet to come to terms with what has happened to him. He's lost and angry and acting out.

Paying the Piper is a sequel to Hamelin's Child, and is as riveting as its predecessor, but for very different reasons. If you felt badly for all Michael went through before, your heart will ache for all that comes next.

The tension ramps up to an almost intolerable level, but our Michael has developed a strong will to overcome. He may not know what he wants to do with his life, but he sure as hell wants to have some say in the matter.

I'm not going to say more, because I don't want to spoil a single thing for any reader. Let me just say... 5 stars for staying up all night reading, reading, barely breathing. Once again, I will be thinking about Michael for days to come.
Good continuation of Michael's troubles of which kicking the heroine is what he thinks is biggest problem..until he meets up with Lenny. .. and Amanda...and Caro ..and Mal...and Greg,Steve and Chris.... ..
