Chasing the Prophecy Beyonders Brandon Mull 9781416997962 Books
FYI ...No spoilers in this review. The Beyonders book series is probably my second favorite juvenile literature series... and I have read a lot of series. We have around 2000 books in our home library at home (paper - not electronic). I admit the first book may start off a little slow but the more I read, the more I liked it. When I finished the 3rd book, Chasing the prophecy, I had decided this was almost my favorite book series of all time. I liked it even more than the first two. I loved the imagination involved in creating the new world and characters and types of individuals. What I loved even more was the way that good morals were taught. Concepts of loyalty and self sacrifice and integrity are held up as noble and, more importantly, something we could achieve ourselves. One theme I liked was that heroes don't have to have some special talent, but that doing the right thing regardless of the cost is being a hero. In other words, I can be a hero. There are certainly many books that are fun to read and interesting and this one is up there with some of the best of those in my opinion, but what elevates it most in my view is that is does so in a way that teaches youth and adults alike that we can be better than what we are. It gives us fictional examples of heroes.... and like the title of the first book indicates, a world without heroes is a dark world indeed.Tags : Chasing the Prophecy (Beyonders) [Brandon Mull] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The #1 New York Times bestselling Beyonders fantasy trilogy comes to a stunning and epic conclusion.

Jason and Rachel were not born in Lyrian. Chasing the Prophecy Beyonders Brandon Mull 9781416997962 Books Reviews
What a Series! As I started this last book in the series I thought it would be my least favorite, but it delivered! I can't believe Brandon Mull. Whether it is Beyonders, or Fablehaven, I love his books. You become so involved with each of the characters, they seem like dear friends or dangerous enemies. I am a Grandmother and I love that his books have clear cut morals. He truly is a genius. I am on to The Five Kingdoms and I do not think I will be disappointed. So happy I can recommend these to my family. These are books for all ages. Thank you Brandon and keep on writing, please.
This book was definitely one of the best I've read in a long time, and I read a lot. Chasing the prophecy is definitely a five star book. I would recommend it to anybody who likes adventures, realistic characters, plot twists, suspense and imaginative creativity. I only found two flaws with this book
1) The last two chapters were slightly disappointing and didn't have the epic conclusion I was expecting, after reading the immensely well crafted ending to the Fablehaven series (definitely one of my favorites!).
2) After all of the talk in the first two books about how impossible it would be to fulfill the prophecy and defeat the emperor it seemed like they were completing the directions in the prophecy too easily.
But, despite both of these flaws I still give it a five star review because he's Brandon Mull and nobody can beat Mull's creativity. I mean, who would ever think of one of the main characters turning themself into a zombie so that they can fulfill the task their master gave them before dying? Nobody except for Brandon Mull. Who would think of the awesome names given to the characters and places in the book (Galloran, Jahser, Farfalle, Esmira, Drake, Aram, Copernum, Maldor, Nedwin, Groddic, etc, etc.)
This book is definitely worth the $8.89 I paid for the Edition. Although book two, Seeds of Rebellion remains my favorite this book is close behind it.
This is the long awaited conclusion to Brandon Mull's Beyonders series which in this final volume goes out in a blaze of glory which wraps up all the loose ends of the story in a fitting conclusion. To Mull's credit he keeps the pace of the story going without ever
letting the action slow down and includes enough twists and turns to keep the reader guessing the outcome until the final pages. Don't know if this was in the author's mind, but the story in my opinion is greatly influenced by the Harry Potter series in the writing, the plot and the almost inexaustible variety of characters throughout. Indeed, if J.K. Rowling had not written Harry Potter the Beyonders series would be the #1 series of fantasy writing for young people (and adults too I will add).
I am assuming that all readers interested in this final volume of the series are familiar with the plotline as established in the two previous volumes, so let me cut to the chase and say that this final book deals with the preparations for the war to defeat
Maldor and restore the throne and all of Lyrian to Galloran as outlined in Esmira's prophecy at the end of the second book. How all the characters fare in thier epic quest is something you will find out on your own, as I do not wish to give away any details
that will adversely reveal the final outcome. As indi- cated above, I promise that there are enough surprises to keep you all guessing said outcome until the end. I will tell you that a vital clue to the outcome (which expounds on the prophecy) is revealed a few chapters from the end - along with a big surprise in the plot which influences the ending in a big way - but I'm not telling!
Mull's grasp of the plot and his imagination in the writing is nothing short of brilliant throughout, and is surpassed only by the astounding variety of charac- ters in all three volumes. And these characters are not at all one-dimensional; they are fully fleshed out with plenty of, well character, feeling and emotion such that I truly felt for all of them wherever the storylines led. As to the two principal characters, Jason and Rachel, they are totally sympathetic and believable in their portrayals and I liked the
way that they grew up and matured as the storylines progressed. This is also due to the storylines lasting several years, so we have a chance to grow and empa- thize with not only the young leads but with all the characters as well. This is a simlarity I find with the Beyonders series and the Harry Potter series. I also find the Beyonders series more sucessful than Mull's previous Fablehaven series, not that I did not enjoy those books - I did, very much. What kept me from totally loving that series were the portrayals of the two children there , who came across as rather immature and selfish a lot of the time, espe- cially the boy character, Seth. Well, in the Beyonders series we don't have that problem - as I said, all the charac-ters are totally fleshed out and sympathetic, especial-ly the leads. If ever this project were made into movi-es, we would have potential blockbusters on our hands.
So I immensely enjoyed the Beyonders series and wished it wouldn't end. Just like Mull's previous books, they are suitable for both adults and children - or for adults alone, such as a middle-aged single reader like myself. One BIG warning for parents with children, though. Just like the Harry Potter series, there are a lot of deaths in this last volume - deaths of promi- nent, well-loved characters which in the course of things help Jason and Rachel mature and succeed on their own in ways they would not have imagined at the beginning of their quest. So, just be forewarned that some counseling and explanation of circumstances may be needed.
So, don't wait to acquire this last Beyonders book. Buy it now and be prepared to not put it down until you are done with it. Happy reading, and I can't wait to see what Brandon Mull is mulling over (bad, I know, haha) for his next project.
